5 Strech Goals unlocked, a new contest & a mysterious figure awaits

Greetings Citizens of Treasure Falls,

I hope all is well in your part of the kingdom. We had a great 3rd day of questing: we unlocked 2 Stretch Goals, are oh-so-close on a 3rd Social Goal winner and have a new contest for the creative storytellers in our land. Plus, a mysterious figure has emerged and awaits us at $70K. 

STRETCH GOALS

We have unlocked both the Weapon Rack Special Location Tile AND 9 new Kind Kid cards! I am so excited to get a Weapon Rack in the game (HeroQuest for life) and I completely agree with the backers who asked for more Kind Kid cards. There will be 3 new Kind Kid perks (and three copies of each new perk). This should allow even the kindest kid to continue to draw cards until the end of their adventure. 

UP NEXT...

We have a BIG number on the horizon and we are going to stretch goal accordingly. We're not quite ready to reveal the reward, but we will soon. In the meantime, throw your guesses in the comment section!

NEW EVENT CARDS CONTEST

We had a blast with our New Item Cards contest, so we decided to do it again! 

The second Stretch Goal that we unlocked was for 4 new Event Cards. Event Cards are new to Big Bads of Tolk's Cave and present our heroes with a story-driven problem they must overcome. Each player will draw a card, read the situation out loud (or get some help from an older player) and then decide which action they'd like to try and complete. Players will then roll Action Dice to try and accomplish their chosen action.

We are asking the Citizens of Treasure Falls to come up with fun/silly/scary/confusing/amazing scenarios that challenge our team of heroes to use for two different event cards. Please leave your comments in the main comment section of the campaign (not the comments for this update) and we will pick a winner on Sunday night.

The winners will be listed as "Storytellers" in the rules for Big Bads of Tolk's Cave and will get to assist in the creation of the cards!

As you can see each card has a 2-3 sentence description of the challenge that awaits the Quest Kids and then two options on how to handle it. Feel free to provide all of that information, only the description or even just a brief idea for a scenario. Any idea in any form will be counted and considered.

End of Day 2: Third Stretch Goal Unlocked, Contest Winners Announced & More

Greetings Citizens of Treasure Falls, 

Day 2 is coming to an end and our quest continues to be merry. We have over 700 adventurers in our traveling party, have unlocked both a third stretch goal and a second free pledge thanks to our social goals and the winners of our Item Card contest have been chosen. Let's get to it!

STRETCH GOALS

Four new Quest Cards will be added to all copies of Big Bads of Tolk's Cave! Speaking of which, I don't think I have announced that all of the stretch goals for this campaign will be for Big Bads of Tolk's Cave (even if it is something like the new Quest Cards that can be enjoyed outside of the expansion). 

This brings the total count of quests to 15. Thanks to our amazing backers for suggesting this goal in the comments.

NEW CARD TYPE

I am pumped to introduce a new card type to The Quest Kids - Special Locations! Special Locations allow players to use their turn performing an action instead of visiting a Dungeon Tile. 

The Weapon Rack is a Green Dungeon Tile that you can swap in for one of the Green Event Dungeon Tiles when playing Big Bads of Tolk's Cave. On a player's turn they can visit the Weapon Rack (instead of visiting a Dungeon Tile) and trade a Treasure Coin for an Item Card. The Treasure Coin cannot be a slime and will be placed back into the Treasure Bag. The player that discovers the Weapon Rack gets to take a free item.

This Stretch Goal adds a Weapon Rack Dungeon Tile Card AND a Cardboard Tile Weapon Rack! The Cardboard Tile should replace the Dungeon Tile Card once it is discovered and stay on the board for the entire game. 

We are really excited about this new card type and are eager to explore more ideas if the campaign continues to do well. Let us know in the comments what you think about the Special Locations and if you have any fun ideas for future locations. 

SOCIAL GOALS

We have another free pledge unlocked thanks to our social challenges! Congrats to Amanda Paulk (BGG user ampsterdamn) for winning the 2nd free pledge! 

We are SO close on BGG likes for Big Bads and Quest Kids, as well as on FB likes for our Treasure Falls Games page. However, we have some work to do on sharing the Kickstarter page :) 

This is the best way to spread the word about The Quest Kids! Just make sure to use the #QuestKidsGame. (Also, for those of you have already shared with #QuestKids don't worry, we got you counted :)

ITEM CARD CONTEST WINNERS

We had over 30 great ideas for new Item Cards to add to the game (thanks to our first unlocked stretch goal). Last night I said we'd pick 2 winners tonight...however we had 4 suggestions that we couldn't decide between. So...we have 4 winners! 

Pouch of Efficiency - An Armor Item from backer Paul Brown

• Quest Cards require one less ability or item to complete (does not include the Tolk Gem quest).

Glasses of Transparency - An Armor Item from backer Gerard Kelly

• When another player gets to look at an unexplored Dungeon Tile you get to peek at it too. 

Croaking Frog - A Weapon Item from backer Galen

• A frog in a bottle that leaps out and scares away a 3 star bad guy (no ability cards required). Discard after use.

Ring of Friendship - An Armor Item from backer Galloway Gerth

• Allows you to help a friend with up to two Ability Cards that are not on your player board. Discard after use and gain 2 Kind Kid cards. 

Congrats to our winners! You will all be listed as "Armorers" in the Big Bads rulebook and can be as involved in the card creation process as you'd like to be. I'll reach out soon with more information.

Greetings Citizens of Treasure Falls, 

What a wonderful way to start the day! In the whee hours of the night (for me at least) we unlocked our 2nd goal and surpassed the entire funding amount from our first campaign...in less than 24 hours! 

STRETCH GOALS & SOCIAL GOALS

We have unlocked 4 new event cards for Big Bads of Tolk's Cave! I will dive into more details on these cards in a future update, but perhaps you should start brainstorming silly or scary situations The Quest Kids may find themselves in during their adventure...

Yesterday we also unlocked the first stretch goal of 5 new item cards. Remember, you have until tonight to post your ideas for new item cards in the main comment section for the campaign! Check out our last update for more information.

Our next stretch goal was brought to life from backer suggestions in the comments! There are only 11 Quest Cards in The Quest Kids base game and with the higher player count that Big Bads brings it does make perfect sense to add more! Thanks @Andreas Gabel, @Samir Biswas, @Kathryn Glidden and everyone else for the idea!

If this goal is unlocked we'll have 15 unique quest cards in the game - enough for each player to complete three quests in a five player game (math!). 

We have also seen a flurry of activity regarding our Social Challenges and have unlocked a FREE PLEDGE for one of our participants. Congrats to... BGG user Bigboimaloy! We'll reach out to you soon. 

We only need to unlock one more star for another free pledge! Check out yesterday's update or towards the bottom of our campaign page for more details on the easy actions you need to take.  

CONTENT SPOTLIGHT

Occasionally in an update I am going to feature videos, posts or reviews that you may have missed. Yesterday I shared Tom Vasel's live play of Big Bads and today I'd like to showcase The Dicey Review's coverage of Big Bads of Tolk's Cave. 

Paul's videos are always beautiful and his way of presenting and explaining game play is very accessible. Below you will find both a How-To-Play video and a review for Big Bads. Enjoy!

150% Funded on Day 1?!? Stretch goals, Contests & More

Greetings Citizens of Treasure Falls,

What. A. Day. We are over 500 backers strong, at 150% of our goal and have already unlocked a stretch goal! I mean, there's a chance that when I wake up in Texas tomorrow morning our other backers across the world will have unlocked a 2nd goal AND eclipsed the entire total funding of our first Quest Kids campaign. Unreal. 

OK. Thanks for letting me gush, but now on to what we have planned for the next 22 days.

Stretch Goals

As I mentioned above we have already unlocked a stretch goal!

Item Cards are new to The Quest Kids in Big Bads of Tolk's Cave, and now you will have 30 of them in the game. These cards provide players with unique powers that help them scare away bad guys and complete action rolls (also new in Big Bads). 

There are three types of item cards: weapons (gold), armor (gray) and potions (pink). Here's an image of most of the current items in the game:

CONTEST

We are asking the Citizens of Treasure Falls (that's you backers FYI) to help us come up with 2 of the new items that will be added in the game! Simply leave your idea for an item in the MAIN comment section for the campaign (not the comments on this update) and we will pick our two favorites on Wednesday night (April 6th). 

The winners will be listed as ARMORERS in the rulebook for Big Bads of Tolk's Cave and will get to assist in the creation of the card!

If you have an exact idea of what the item would do we'd love to hear it (you can review the cards above to get an idea of how the items often function). However, if you have never played The Quest Kids before that is not a problem at all. Simply comment describing a weapon, piece of armor or potion that you think would be cool/funny/strange/confusing and we'll figure out how to make it work if you win!

SOCIAL GOALS

We have some easy Social Goals! A lot of you may not realize this since they are pretty far down on the page. Here is what we're doing:

As you can see we are only one star away from unlocking a free pledge for one of our Social Goal participants. As of the writing of this update we are only 6 likes away on the Board Game Geek page for The Quest Kids and 18 likes for Big Bads of Tolk's Cave. Share The Quest Kids and maybe get a free pledge. Sounds good, right?

The Dice Tower Live Play

This morning the one-and-only Tom Vasel played Big Bads of Tolk's Cave LIVE on his YoutTube channel (The Dice Tower) with his daughter and son. If you are interested in seeing the new elements of the expansion in action I highly recommend giving it a watch:

Greetings Citizens of Treasure Falls, 

Wow! I really can't believe that this campaign is already funded. Thank you all for supporting our dungeon crawler for young heroes with such an amazing response. 

I had planned to post the first update tonight with a lot more info about the fun things we have planned for the campaign, but I had to jump on here and celebrate...FUNDING IN 5 HOURS! 

I will still be back tonight with another update. Until then keep spreading the word about The Quest Kids!
