January 2023: Fulfillment Begins!

Happy New Year Citizens of Treasure Falls, 

I hope everyone had a wonderful Holiday season with friends and family. We had a very busy break around our house with three young kiddos enjoying everything to the max. 

I am very happy to report that The Quest Kids: Big Bads of Tolk's Cave is still moving towards a January fulfillment in most regions. All journeys have their challenges and this process has not been without some obstacles (specifics below), but I am very proud that we will hit our proclaimed goal of beginning fulfillment in January 2023.

For all regions you will receive an address confirmation email from our fulfillment partner once your pledge is ready to ship.

USA/CANADA

The boat reached the port in Florida today! This would have happened two weeks ago, but we were the lucky winners of a random intensive examination by customs officials. Our container was sent to an auxiliary location and thoroughly examined. This process was long (and, unfortunately, expensive), but we finally got the "all clear" from customs officials last week. 

Assuming no additional delays the games will make it quickly through the port and arrive at Quarter Master Logistics early next week. We should be able to start shipping games to backers in the USA by the end of next week. 

Quarter Master Logistics also handles our shipping to Canada. These pledges typically take about 10 extra days once fulfillment begins. Therefore, our estimate right now is backers in Canada will begin receiving their pledges the week of February 6th. 

ASIA

VFI is handling fulfillment in Asia. They have already sent shipments to their distribution hubs across the region and some pledges are already on their way to backers!

AUSTRALIA/NEW ZEALAND 

Our shipment has arrived in Australia and fulfillment is being handled by Aetherworks. Shipping to backers should begin next week (the week of January 16th). 

UK/EUROPE

Unfortunately, our shipment to the UK is the most delayed. It is scheduled to arrive at the port on January 31st. We had a booked departure date from China of December 9th, which was within days of the other three shipments. Multiple minor delays at the port in China and on the sea have added up to put this shipment three weeks behind schedule. I am very sorry for this delay.

However, we are all set to fulfill the games as quickly as possible once they arrive. We are using Spiral Galaxy for fulfillment to the UK and Europe.

I can't wait for all of the returning backers to explore what is new in Big Bads of Tolk's Cave or for the new backers to experience The Quest Kids for the first time.

Announcing The Quest Kids: Giant Adventure + All Big Bads pledges are headed to the port!

Greetings Citizens of Treasure Falls, 

I have two very exciting bits of news to share:

First, all Big Bads of Tolk's Cave pledges are headed to the port with scheduled departures!  

We have three different shipments headed to three different logistics partners (QML for USA/Canada/ROW, Spiral Galaxy for the UK/Europe and Aetherworks for Australia/New Zealand). We are using VFI for our Asia fulfillment and these games will be picked up by truck directly from the factory next week. 

All three shipments have scheduled December arrivals, which puts us right on target for our promised January 2023 fulfillment (perhaps sooner for our backers in Asia!).  

Second, our next project is our biggest idea yet... 

The Quest Kids: Giant Adventure is a LIFE-SIZED fantasy game experience for kids 5+ that is headed to Kickstarter in early 2023! 

Using 36 giant cardboard tiles players will create a dungeon in their own home and act as the game pieces as they search for treasure, silly bad guys and stars.

Giant Adventure features the same award-winning mechanics as The Quest Kids board game, but in a new one-of-a-kind immersive experience. 

We will be sharing a lot more about the game in the coming weeks, however we do have a give-away going on right now.

October 2022 Update: Pre-Production is 100% Complete!

Greetings Citizens of Treasure Falls,'

How's this for a slice of fried gold?* 

All of the files have been submitted and approved for The Big Bads of Tolk's Cave and all of our campaign's add-ons! Production is underway and we are right on schedule with a mid-November completion/freight ship date. 

This timeline will most likely have our goods arriving at their destination ports in December 2022 and allow us to hit our fulfillment promise of January 2023!

I am very, very happy with the way this expansion has turned out and I can't wait for you to battle the Big Bads in the New Year.

LOCKING ORDERS ON FRIDAY, 10/14/2022

With the production process soon coming to a close we need to lock orders for the campaign. The last day to make final updates to your Big Bads of Tolk's Cave pledge is Friday, 10/14. After this date, we will lock your reward selections and charge cards for add-on item purchases, pledge upgrades, late-pledges and shipping. 

Don't worry - you can still update your shipping address until we lock addresses for shipping in January 2023. 

If you need to review your information or pledge status (or wish to add additional items), you can return to your survey by clicking the link in your survey email or requesting your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page at https://questkidsbigbads.backerkit.com

If you haven't filled out your survey and you miss the deadline you can still submit your information, however your shipment may be delayed.

The ability to late-pledge will remain open for a bit longer, however the available inventory outside of the US is limited.

August 2022 Update: 80% finished + I'd love your thoughts on some art!

Greetings Citizens of Treasure Falls, 

We have knocked out a TON of stuff since my last update. Let's just jump straight to the fun graphs:

As you can see ALL of the art has been finished and ALL but one of the files have been created and sent to the manufacturer for review! The only remaining item is the rule book, which has grown to 36 pages (the main reason being the 5 unique boss battles that now await our heroes at the end of the game).

We are hard at work on the rules, however the good news is that production can begin without the rules being 100% finished (we can print these separately without delaying the timeline).  The next major step before we hit the big START button is a thorough review of the prototype the manufacturer creates from the files we have sent over. 

I am hopeful that my next update will feature a lame celebration GIF because manufacturing has begun.

Want to help me out real quick?

We are in the process of choosing a new artist for our next project! I have asked a few artists to give me their take on two different characters and I'd love to get your thoughts. 

When considering the different options certainly look at the finished pieces, however also consider the style of the artist and what an entire game illustrated in their style may look like (they will end up creating over 30 new characters!). Our new game will be a family game for a slightly older audience than The Quest Kids (7+). 

If you could comment below with your top 2 or 3 in order for each set I would greatly appreciate it! Something like (TRAINS: A, B, C | ROBOTS - D,E, F).

Good Afternoon Citizens of Treasure Falls,

We have completed the first draft of the first half of our rule book! We are happy with where it is right now, however we'd love to get your feedback. You can review the rule book by CLICKING HERE.

IMPORTANT: the rules for Big Bads of Tolk's Cave assume an understanding of how to play the base Quest Kids game. If you have not played The Quest Kids it'd probably be best to review that rulebook HERE before moving on to Big Bads of Tolk's Cave. 

To make things a bit easier we have created a quick six question feedback form that we are asking interested parties to complete after reviewing the rules. Not only does this form help us streamline the process of finding weaknesses in our rules and clearing up confusing bits, but we are going to giveaway a copy of Big Bads to one lucky participant later this month!

I realize that you fine backers already have a copy of Big Bads of Tolk's Cave headed your way, but if you do win the prize I am sure you can find another little dungeon crawler who would enjoy the expansion.

I want to thank you in advance for taking the time to review the rules with a critical eye. We can still easily tweak the rules right now without delaying the production at all. I obviously want the rule book to be as simple to understand as possible for all future players of the expansion.
