July 2022 Update: Getting Closer!

Greetings Citizens of Treasure Falls, 

I hope everyone is having a wonderful summer. We made great progress in June on Big Bads of Tolk's Cave, however I'd like to first give a quick Pledge Manager update. 

We've received completed surveys from 87% of our backers (thank  you!).  If you have any questions or issues be sure to check out this update or reach out to us and we'll be happy to help.

July 2022 Pre-Manufacturing Update

In June we knocked out 12% of our pre-manufacturing tasks. I know it may seem like progress has slowed, but that is simply because the tasks we are accomplishing now are the most time consuming of the whole process. As you can see the VAST majority of our remaining tasks fall in the "file prep" or "file/sample approval" categories, and these categories generally move a lot more quickly than the actual creation process. 

Here are some of the tasks we completed in June and what we are working on now:

• Finished all of the item art! Here's a look at the "Croaking Frog" item created by backer Galen.

• We finished the box bottom and sides design for Big Bads of Tolk's Cave! Below is what the print file looks like, which I always think looks cool/crazy. Notice all of the little and big bads on the inside box sides!

• Approved the Flint miniature mold (this is a somewhat lengthy process, so we are happy to have already completed it now to avoid potential delays).

• Approved the neoprene player mat samples. 

• Approved the dice samples. Here's a look! 

• Currently our design team is working on the first draft of the rules and our artist is wrapping up the final pieces needed for our Big Bads battles.

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! It's update time.

Quick BackerKit Survey Update

All backers should have received an email last week with a link to their pledge manager survey from BackerKit. We covered all the info you need to know in THIS UPDATE. We've already received completed surveys from 66% of our backers (thank you!). If you have any questions or issues be sure to check out last week's update or reach out to us and we'll be happy to help. 

June 2022 Pre-Manufacturing Update

In May we completed over 25% of our pre-manufacturing work, putting our current standing at 30% complete. Here are some of the tasks we completed:

• Finished the art brief, art, design brief and designs for all of the remaining Bad Guy Tiles. This includes the new pirate and bear character art as a result of our backer vote during the campaign!

• We worked with our backers who won the Item Creation contest on art briefs that have been passed on to Apolline (our artist). She is working on the art right now. 

• We finished the box design for our Cardboard Dungeon Tiles Add-On. 

• Designed and finalized all of the new Kind Kid Cards, Tolk Gem Power Cards and Quest Cards that were unlocked during stretch goals. 

• Approved the Flint Miniature sample and have already begun production on the miniature mold (this is a somewhat lengthy process, so we are happy to have already started it now to avoid potential delays).

• Optimized and approved the final dice base colors and dice icon colors. We are waiting on production samples to give final approval on the dice. 

In June our main focus will be on the rule book design, Big Bads box design, Event Card design (including working with our backers who won the Event Card Contest) and playtesting/finalizing our Big Bads Battles.

The Quest Kids: Big Bads of Tolk's Cave BackerKit Surveys are on their way!

Greetings Citizens of Treasure Falls!

I hope all has been well! We have made great progress on The Big Bads of Tolk's Cave, however I'll share specific data in an update soon. THIS update is all about the BackerKit surveys and how they are headed your way! 

HERE'S HOW IT WILL WORK:

Soon you’ll receive an email from us with a special link to your BackerKit survey. It’s important to respond to your survey as quickly as you can since we must have this information to fulfill your rewards.

You don’t need to create a BackerKit account to fill out your survey. When you receive the email with the survey, click the survey link to respond. Answer the questions about your reward preferences, provide shipping information, purchase add-on items or change your reward level if you like and pay for shipping. Don't worry - your credit card will not get charged until we are closer to shipping. 

You don’t have access to this survey link yet, but it will be available soon via email! I will provide an update here when all of the surveys have been sent and provide assistance to anyone who is missing the email. All surveys should be sent by Friday, June 3rd. 

After you respond to your survey, you can go back later and change your responses or address at any time before we close the surveys to get our final counts.

If you need to review your information or pledge status, you can return to your survey by clicking the link in your survey email or requesting your survey link under "Lost your survey?" on our BackerKit project page at https://questkidsbigbads.backerkit.com

What If I added Add-Ons to my pledge?


If you have already added add-ons to your pledge these should be in your cart and already paid for when you logon to your survey. Please note that shipping for add-ons was NOT included in the initial add-on price. 

What if I backed at a 2 Wave Shipping pledge level?

We have already started fulfilling Wave 1 shipments to backers! On 5/18 and 5/19 we sent instructions to all 2 Wave Shipping Backers on how to pay for shipping. There are still 70 backers who have not paid for shipping, so if you are one of the 70 please check your email/spam folder for that info. If you aren't able to find it please shoot me an email at [email protected] and I'll help you out. 

Regarding this BackerKit survey all 2 Wave Shipping Backers will only see Big Bads of Tolk's Cave and any add-ons they purchased in their cart (since we are sending the Wave 1 items separately - The Quest Kids and also The Trials of Tolk the Wise for All-In backers).  

Can I Upgrade My Pledge Level or Purchase Add-Ons?


Yes, you can upgrade your pledge level or purchase Add-Ons! To change your pledge level select the blue "switch your pledge level" link located on the first page of the survey (pictured below). 

BackerKit FAQ

1. It is mid-June 2022 and I didn’t get my BackerKit email invite. What do I do? 

The easiest thing to do is resend your invite to yourself! Just go here: https://questkidsbigbads.backerkit.com,  enter your Kickstarter email address, and click on the "Get My Survey" button. You will be sent a new email with a link to your  account. Please remember: all surveys will not be sent until Friday, 6/3. 

2. I forgot my BackerKit password. How do I get it? 

Just go here: https://questkidsbigbads.backerkit.com,  enter your Kickstarter email address, and click on the "Get  My Survey" button. You will be sent a new email with a link to your  account.

3. I want to sign back into https://questkidsbigbads.backerkit.com, but I don’t remember the email I used for my account. How do I get it? 

It should be your Kickstarter account email. If that doesn’t work, please email [email protected] and they will help you.

4. I have a question about BackerKit that isn’t covered here. What do I do? 

Head over to https://www.backerkit.com/faq_backer, or email the team directly at [email protected]. They’re happy to help!

May 2022 Update: Let the Progress Begin!

Greetings Citizens of Treasure Falls, 

Welcome to our first post-campaign progress update! In these monthly updates I will provide a high-level overview of where we stand on our quest to fulfillment and let you know some of the tasks that have been conquered along the way. 

Right now we are in the "Pre-Manufacturing" period. During this time I am working with my artist, designers and manufacturers to get everything created, proofed and approved before production can begin. 

I thought it would be fun to have some graphics to update on a monthly basis, so here you go...fun charts!

As you can see from the top chart we've already knocked out 5% of our tasks in less than a week! As you can also see from the bottom chart a little more than 50% of our remaining tasks are around content creation. 

A lot of these creative tasks are smaller jobs centered around the unlocked stretch goals, however the largest task is the creation of the rule book. Right now I have the rules in a text heavy PDF and I need to create an in-depth brief for my design team to begin creating the graphics and image heavy final product. The rules are high on my to-do list.

BACKERKIT SURVEYS

Next week we are going to send BackerKit surveys to our 2 Wave Shipping Backers only! These surveys will have a fairly short window to complete to ensure that we can ship your first wave of games ASAP. All of you 2 Wave Backers please be on the lookout for an update and survey next week. 

All of the single wave shipment backers just hang tight. We will get your surveys out in about 3 weeks and you will have plenty of time to complete them before our fulfillment in January 2023.
